Web site "new look"

Well fellow collectors, we haven't had a "news" article for quite some time, but we've been busy buying art and making sure we have a number of pieces to update our original art section. You'll also find a heap of cgc-graded comic books (finally I hear you say!).

The web site overall has also gone through a "face lift" and we hope you guys like it. Any further suggestions on improved navigation, please let us know.

Original Art Selection

There's still plenty more art to go up, but there's a great deal up already for you guys to peruse! From new bronze-age covers, to plenty of great splashes and panel pages. There's something there for everyone.

Tim Sale is hot, hot, hot!! Check out the double page splash featuring Daredevil and the Owl from Daredevil Yellow. There will be approximately ten more pieces from Daredevil Yellow to be placed on the site, so keep watching!!! We have also acquired the best three covers from Spider-Man Blue by Tim Sale. The cover to issue one is already available.

We also have art for Ghost Rider fans and a heap of new bronze age covers/panels. Check them out!!

Comics Comics Comics!!!

We finally got around to categorising our comic books and they're up in our new CGC section. Check them out and let us know if there's anything in particular you're looking for. We are also actively seeing consignments, so contact us if you have high-grade books for sale.

Of particular mention:

  • the highest graded Three Dimensional EC Classics #1 (CGC VF/NM 9.0), Gaines Pedigree. This is one of the rarest ECs to come across and is complete with all 3-D glasses.
  • Tales from the Crypt #32 (CGC NM 9.4) - only 1 of 3 copies graded NM, there is only one other copy graded higher (9.6). In our opinion this should have graded a 9.6, but thems the breaks ;-)
  • Sub-Mariner #1 (CGC NM+ 9.6), Western Penn Pedigree.
  • Nick Fury Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. #1 (CGC NM 9.4) Western Penn Pedigree.
  • Iron Man #1 (CGC NM+ 9.6)
  • Iron Fist #1 (CGC NM 9.4) - a hot bronze age book that just keeps going up!
  • Doctor Strange #169 (CGC NM/M 9.8) - a tremendous book, none have graded higher than 9.8
  • Daredevil #1 (CGC VF+ 8.5) - we believe this book is still very undervalued. With the Daredevil movie out next year, watch this hit the roof!

There's plenty more comics to choose from them, so check em out!

Icons of the Orthodox Russia

We are pleased to introduce some magnificent examples of Russian Orthodox Icons soon to our web site. Please e-mail us if you would like to be notified when they are available These icons originate from the 17th century through to the 19th century and encapsulate the religious faith of the Russia people. All have been authenticated and are some of the best examples of this kind. Keep watching....

Auction Report

We've been watching closely what's been happening on eBay and Yahoo over the past 4 weeks. A few Bronze Age books are shining through as keys for this period. In particular Daredevil #158, Ghost Rider #1, Marvel Spotlight #5 and Amazing Spider-Man (in general). Other books worthy of note are Daredevil #131, Daredevil #168, Incredible Hulk #180 and Daredevil #1, which have all been showing very strong growth. The Daredevil Miller run (DD #158-191) is also emerging as a potential investment lot and should do very well next year when the Daredevil movie is released. High grade Bronze/Modern books are fetching prices that surpass the NM Overstreet price, especially those in 9.6 or higher grade. 9.8's tend to go for exceptional prices and there is no shortage of bids in the market.

With many key Silver Age books out of reach for most collectors, auctions prices realised for Bronze Age books is heating up. And it doesn't look to stop any time soon. Key books valued at the $50 mark in the Overstreets price guide are now commanding $500+ (in 9.6/9.8 grade) with 9.8 graded books often realising 50x or more than the NM Overstreet price!
