Not since the Russ Cochran EC reprints has there been an EC collectable of this magnitude! Produced with the EC collector/investor in mind, this very limited edition of 150 signed and numbered fine art lithographs have been specially printed in conjunction with one of EC's greats, Al Feldstein.

Since September 2000, there were discussions throughout GP Investment Collectables about the availability of investment quality EC pieces. We searched high and dry, looking for such "elusive" works, however apart from the 1950's comics and original artwork, there was nothing out there. George Pantela then asked the simple question - what the heck is Al Feldstein up to? A huge fan of his work, George embarked on a fact-finding journey and discovered Al working on his ranch in Montana - still active, but not in the Comic Book Industry. Al now paints sensational fine art scenes depicting Americana. Wild horses, rodeo action scenes and the magnificent landscapes surrounding his home. The 10 million dollar question was, would Al paint his original EC covers? Thank God the answer was a resounding YES.

So the WEIRD FELDSTEIN story begins! From the original painting "revisiting" the cover of Weird Science No.7, a limited edition fine art lithograph, signed and numbered by Al is now available to EC and other collectors.

The edition has been printed on heavy stock (250 gsm) archival quality silk matt paper, with a final layer of varnish to protect the image for years to come. Only 150 have been produced, keeping this a very limited edition that will most certainly appreciate in value in the short term. Make sure to reserve your copy today. Each lithograph measures a huge 40 inches in height by 23 inches in width. The spectacular image of the female astronaut stands 14 inches tall. The rocket ship, of which Al has extended higher as he had "originally wanted" is almost 22 inches tall! The lithograph is true to the original cover - this modern-day painted cover surpass its 50's counterpart! Vibrant colors, brilliant detail, overpowering imagery. The beaker from the side bar erupts a toxic "FAROUT" fume. "AF Entertaining Artist" logos on either side of "Weird Feldstein" are produced in the EC style. A true masterpiece from the master of the Sci-fi genre!

A little about Al Feldstein

Born in New York City, Al Feldstein studied painting at the High School of Music and Art, and the Art Students League under a scholarship. After school and summers, he worked in a studio servicing the comic book industry. During World War ll, he was a Special Services artist. Upon his discharge, he returned to the comic book industry, packaging magazines for publishers.

At E.C. comics, he created, wrote, illustrated and edited a popular line of titles which are now collector's items. These included horror such as Tales from the Crypt (which was adapted for TV by HBO), science-fiction and suspense, among others. In 1955, he became editor of MAD Magazine, one of E.C.'s titles. He took the magazine's circulation from 375,000 to a high of almost 3 million by gathering a staff of talented artist and writers; supervising every phase of its operation, editing and rewriting every word; designing layouts and creating the format that led to MAD's success, including adopting and christening its trademark, the freckle-faced, grinning Alfred E. Neuman.

In 1984, Al retired from MAD, and returned to his first love, painting. He later moved to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and spent three years painting the Tetons and their wildlife, placing two paintings in the Top 100 Arts for the Parks.

In 1992, he moved to Paradise Valley near Livingston, and now enjoys painting Montana's ranch life, its wildlife and its spectacular scenery.

In 1999, Al was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Arts degree by Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana, and again won a place in the Top 100 Arts for the Parks competition.

In 2000, he was invited to give the Commencement Address to the first graduation class of the new century at Rocky Mountain College.

Al is represented by numerous galleries in the Northwest and he has participated in juried shows where he has received many awards.
